New measures agreed at the end of 2018 put the consumer at the center of clean energy transition and give more protection to the poorest and more vulnerable energy consumers.
In December 2018, the Mexican Energy Ombudsman asked me to write a special edition of its monthly magazine, focusing on energy consumer protection in Europe:
I am back from the Citizen’s energy forum, the annual European Commission’s convention which has been steering EU’s energy consumer policies for the last ten years. New business models and ADR were at the centre of the 10th meeting.
One of the key aims of the ESRC Just Energy project is to investigate how vulnerable consumers access justice. Therefore, understanding which consumers are currently excluded from accessing justice through ADR is key, as is providing an overview of recent EU and national measures and policies which seek to address energy poverty and consumer vulnerability in the energy sector.
